It was amazing, after this year’s holiday season our friends’ kids all seemed to disappear. I was wondering where they went.
Then, I found out that basketball season is in full swing. Practices. Scrimmages. College hoops on television.
Although we are a tennis family, one of my favorite seasons of the year is college basketball. I really do think it deserves an actual holiday season. Maybe without the gift giving.
One interesting about our family is that we interact more during college basketball season then Christmas. My sister-in-law hosts a family college basketball bracket challenge that even the kids love to participate in. There are prizes and everything. We talk more over those two weeks then we do all year. And it’s so much fun.
This year, to help celebrate basketball season, I created these Free Printable Basketball Banner designs. They are easy to make and you can display them anywhere. They are the perfect addition to a basketball birthday party, Final Four celebration or just to hang as a backdrop when your family gets together to declare the bracket winner.
(Okay, I might be using it for this reason.)
How to Assemble the Party Banner
Stringing together a banner is actually pretty easy. Start by downloading and printing your design here. There are two different ones to choose from – both pennant flag shaped. The first is a patterned basketball banner design. The second spells out Download.
Before printing, measure the space and figure out how big of a banner you would like to make. Print out however many pieces you need. It’s best to use medium to heavy white cardstock. Check out additional printing directions here. (affiliate)
Once your banner pieces are printed, trim the pieces using scissors or a paper trimmer. Choose a matching orange or black baker’s twine. Then, measure it to figure out how long a piece you need. (affiliate)
If using baker’s twine, string together the pieces and attach with a piece of tape on the back of each one to hold them in place.
Or if you’re using ribbon, glue each banner piece to it. I recommend using a glue gun or Glue Dots. (affiliate)
Where Can I Hang the Basketball Banner?
This basketball banner makes a great decoration to any basketball party. Hang as a backdrop to your dessert table, along a fireplace mantel or in front of a cabinet.
Just be sure to measure the space first before assembling it. If the “Happy Birthday” basketball banner is too long, then create a basketball banner using the patterned pieces that fits your space better.

Since not everyone will celebrate a birthday using this basketball banner, I wanted to create options for using it. There are two different designs to choose from – a patterned basketball banner and Download.
