Free Printable Basketball Bingo

We love watching basketball games together as a family in the winter – particularly college basketball games.  And even more fun – March Madness.

It might be because I attended a D1 school that had a pretty awesome basketball program. (Shout out to any Indiana fans out there.) Or maybe we just need a winter sports fix and basketball is on a lot.  

Whatever the reason, when tuning into the games, we like to make it a more interactive family experience.  Basketball bingo allows us do this.  Each family member gets a bingo card and marker.  As you notice the different items on the bingo card during the game, you cross them off.  

Get Everyone is Engaged

As with any sport, some kids are interested and some aren’t.  But this disinterest doesn’t mean that you still can’t make it a family activity.  By creating an interactive way to watch, everyone can participate and have fun.

Ways to Play Basketball Bingo

The traditional way to play basketball bingo is to cross out each box as you spot the item.  The first person to cross out a column or row wins.  

But this traditional way doesn’t always last the entire basketball game.  Some players might be done playing really quickly.

Another way that we like to play is to try to cross out all of the boxes instead of just make a row or column.  This allows everyone to play just a little longer.

Or you could have different rounds for each quarter of the basketball game.  Each basketball quarter equals a bingo game round.  For this type of play, it’s best to have four different colors or use multiple bingo cards.  That way you can mark the same items for different rounds.

When to Play

Although our family loves to pull out basketball bingo during regular winter basketball games, this is also a fun game to play during March Madness. 

If you have weekend live basketball games that you are taking the other kids to, bring along some basketball bingo cards.  They can be just as much fun at a high school or league basketball game as a professional one that you watch on television.

Another idea is to use it as a game during a basketball party.  You can watch clips of basketball games on YouTube and have guests see if they can spot the items on the bingo cards.

How to Make Basketball Bingo

It’s pretty simple to make your basketball bingo cards.  First, download the Free Printable Basketball Bingo Cards here.  They are formatted as two 5″ x 7″ cards per a page.

For printing, use medium to heavy white cardstock. Check out our additional printing tips here.

Then, trim your cards using a paper cutter or cut them out with scissors.  For playing, include a permanent marker or Bingo dauber to easily cross off the items as they are spotted. (affiliates)

For a smaller crowd, check out this basketball strategy card game called Dunk Dynasty.  The goal is to match basketball shot with card color.  It’s a fast high paced game that will result in high drama and uncontrollable laughter.

Grab a basketball and challenge your friends to these basketball training exercises.  Combine different cards for a fun off court workout with your friends.  Add a timer to see how many different drills your friends can do in a specific amount of time.

Find out how much your friends know about basketball with this basketball trivia guide.  Use the questions to make your own trivia cards.  Then, try to stump your party guests on this basketball wisdom.

Race your friends to the finish line with this basketball spoon relay.  Each player balances a basketball on the end of a spoon.  It’s a great way to incorporate an active game in a smaller party space.

Another fun basketball party game that will keep guests moving is this Basket Heads Game.  Two players strap inflatable baskets on top of their heads.  Then players see how many baskets they can make while the “nets” move around.  Play one on one, two on two or even divide guests into teams.
