Free Printable Birthday Cake Coloring Page

My favorite type of coloring page is one that is open ended. Where you can actually design or decorate something instead of just coloring within the lines.
Since I’m adding ice cream and popsicle themed ones to our upcoming Summer Printables Pack, I decided that I also wanted to create one that was birthday themed.
I love giving kids the opportunity to color at birthday parties. It’s an easy activity to set up and kids love it. But when I designed the Free Printable Happy Birthday Coloring Pages, I focused on cute designs that you could enjoy coloring in. Not something to decorate.
This Free Printable Birthday Cake Coloring Page is different. It is meant to be a blank space that you (or guests) can design in multiple ways. You can even transform it into a birthday party game for guests to enjoy.
The Design
This Free Printable Birthday Cake Coloring Page features a multi-layered cake. Put flowers, stripes, dots, little giggling unicorns. It’s completely up to you.
I also included a banner behind the cake to decorate. And dancing confetti to color.
How to Use
There are lots of ways to use this Free Printable Birthday Cake Coloring Page at your next event. Here are some of my favorites.
Welcome Table Activity
Set up a table at the front of your party area and use it as a welcome table. Print copies of this coloring page for guests to decorate. Include crayons, markers and fun birthday stickers to make decorating the cake even more fun.
Decorate-Your-Cake Challenge
Although you might not be able to set up baking their own cake, have guests decorate their own cake. You can even set a theme – such as the birthday party theme. Guests need to create a cake focused on that theme.
Art Activity Station
If you decide to set up birthday party stations as part of your entertainment plan, you can add this to your Coloring Station. Include other coloring pages from our Happy Birthday Coloring Pages set and you will have an assortment of options for guests to enjoy.
Pass the Cake
Transform this coloring page into its very own game. Guests sit in a circle. Each person is responsible for adding a decoration onto the cake. Once they’ve added their decoration, they pass the cake to the left. The cake is completely decorated when everyone has added something to it.
Roll a Cake
Similar to our Roll-a-Christmas Tree Game, for this party game guests add different decorations or cake elements based on their dice roll. Create a key before starting. It can look like this:
1 – candle
2 – flower
3 – dots
4 – animal
5 – fruit
6 – roller’s choice
To play, one person rolls the die. They draw the decoration that corresponds to their roll. Play continues until the players decide that the cake looks decorated.
Cake Gallery Walk
When setting up your party, create a hanging space for guests to display their beautiful cakes. Once guests finish decorating their cakes, they hang them via clothespins in the “cake gallery”.
Once everyone’s cakes are displayed, guests can take a cake gallery walk and admire all of the cakes.
Birthday Wish Cake
Print a copy of the birthday cake coloring page on heavy white cardstock. (affiliate) Set up the coloring page on a table with fine permanent markers. Invite guests to write wishes on the birthday cake to the birthday person. They can also include little doodles and decorations.
This birthday wish cake makes a wonderful keepsake for guests.
Color by Command
Give each guest a copy of the birthday cake coloring page. On go, call out a coloring command. Some examples include “Draw a candle” or “Color three blue dots”. Guests follow the commands as they decorate.
Add a creative twist on this activity by having guests call out some of the commands. Invite guests to call out a command for participants to follow. Let everyone share out their decorated cakes at the end.
Send Home as a Party Favor
Print out copies of the birthday cake coloring page and attach a birthday themed crayon. (affiliate) Then, guests can enjoy decorating when they get home.
