I was reminded by my husband recently about the amazing bunny bait that I made last year. Usually when I make treats, he gobbles them up (including sneaking late night bites) and raves about how wonderful they were for three days. Tops.
He rarely returns to one specific dessert, especially at the correct time of year and requests it be made again. That bunny bait must have been pretty amazing if it is still on his mind.
Since I couldn’t remember which recipe I used last year, I tried this version from Just a Pinch. In this new version, I used Rice Chex cereal in addition to the popcorn and pretzel sticks. It seems that there is also a shortage of classic chocolate M&Ms in our area, so I tried the crispy version. Their sweetness plus crisp was awesome when eaten altogether.
With plans of delivering some of this crazy popcorn goodness to the kids’ teachers, I designed these Free Printable Bunny Bait Tags.
After you make your batch, if there’s any left over, package it in large cello bags (affiliate link) and attach the tag with baker’s twine (affiliate link) to make them extra pretty. Bunny Bait makes a sweet treat for neighbors, teachers or even work colleagues.
(In our case, there wasn’t any leftover, but am going to make some more next week for gifts!)
Bunny bait is a perfect addition to your child’s Easter basket, a neighbor’s gift or a sweet treat to give your child’s teachers before heading on spring break. You could even send some home as favors for an Easter egg hunt or bunny themed party. Your guests won’t mind… really.
