Okay, time for some word play. What do the words bunny, basket and jellybeans all have in common? You’re probably thinking something about Easter based on the title of today’s post.
Well, you’re sort of right. They are some of the words featured on the Free Printable Easter Word Search that I designed. I gathered some of my favorite Easter words and hid them in this fun word search puzzle for all to find.
I chose words that make me think of Easter and spring. Things like grass, bouquet, lamb and tulips. It was lovely basking in the idea of the warm flower filled days yet to come.
Easter is on it’s way. At least that’s what I’ve convinced myself of even though the groundhog didn’t see his shadow a few weeks ago. I think it’s the occasional pops of 50 and sometimes 60 degrees these past few days. Those temperatures can be really convincing.
Right now, I’ve been working on planning some Easter activities for our upcoming neighborhood Easter egg hunt. Kids love pen and pencil games. And it’s a great way to encourage them to work together. Everyone likes to play games. Especially at a party.
This Free Printable Easter Word Search is the perfect addition to an Easter party or activity for an Easter play date. You can also print it out and put it at the kids’ seats at your Easter dinner.
Or bring it to the restaurant with you. I’ve found many restaurants have sadly gotten rid of the traditional crayons and coloring place mats. Pop this word search and a crayon in your bag. Kids will love finding the words while they wait for their meal.
Thoughts Behind the Design
When I created this Free Printable Easter Word Search, I decided to make it a black and white design. I love the look of hand drawn doodles on the white background. They add a whimsy to the page that makes them really cute.
Mostly when I decided to leave it black and white, though, I considered how you will use this design. Most puzzles are printed in quantity. Rarely do you just make one copy of it. You might hand it out to your class, a play date, party or Sunday School. This puzzle might even be given as a gift (see below).
It’s also much more cost effective to copy a black and white design than a color one.
And I wanted to create a design that kids could color too. I love our Free Printable Easter Egg Coloring Pages from last year. (I have the banner the kids made out of the eggs ready to be hung this year.). This different Easter eggs and hand drawn bunny can also be colored. This makes it a twofer activity – part puzzle and part coloring.
How Can I Use this Word Search at a Party?
When I host a kids party, I like to have an assortment of activities for the kids to do. From relay race style games to crafts to make, there’s a couple of things for the kids to choose from.
I also include a table with a variety of pen and pencil activities. Kids love word searches, coloring pages and seeking games. This gives them lots of activities to choose from. And, if you’ve noticed, kids go through activities super fast. So, it’s a great idea to have different ones and lots of copies. Then they can do more than one.
To make the games, I print the pages on regular white copy and stack them in the middle of the table.
On the table, I like to add some fun shaped crayons (these Easter themed ones are adorable (affiliate)) and colorful pencils (affiliate). Make sure that your pencils are sharpened so they are ready to use.
