Fall Acorn Cupcakes

Now that Halloween has passed, believe it or not Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away! We love Thanksgiving around here – family and friends visiting, desserts to bake and fun craft projects with the kids.
Luckily, not all Thanksgiving desserts have to be hard to make.
These fall acorn cupcakes were inspired by those adorable acorn treats we’ve been seeing around. Most of the versions of these treats we’ve seen use mini Nutter Butter cookies. Since we have food allergies in our family, we decided to use those delicious little golden Oreos. With a Hershey kiss and mini chocolate chip, they make a yummy topper for any fall cupcake.
These fall acorn cupcakes are a wonderful addition to a Thanksgiving kids table or bring a batch for a Thanksgiving celebration. They’re so easy to make and sure to impress your host.
You Will Need:
A dozen cupcakes (made from scratch or bought from the store)
12 Hershey Kisses
Mini chocolate chips
12 mini golden Oreos
4 – 5 milk chocolate candy wafers or a handful of chocolate chips
Fall themed sprinkles (affiliate link)
1. Melt your milk chocolate candy wafers in 10 second intervals in the microwave. If your chocolate seems thick, add a touch of vegetable oil to temper it and make it smooth for spreading.
2. Spread a small amount of chocolate on top of the Hershey Kiss.
Place the mini Oreo on top and gently press down. Let dry.
3. Add a tiny amount of chocolate to the bottom of the mini chocolate chip. Press in the center of the mini Oreo. Let dry.
4. Sprinkle the top of your cupcakes with fall themed sprinkles. Some ideas are mix of fall colored jimmies (affiliate) or leaf sprinkles (affiliate).
Add your acorn topper on top of your cupcake.
Serve your cupcakes at a Thanksgiving dessert table, play date or even serve as a special fall themed treat at a classroom Thanksgiving party.
The best part is you can have a tasty fall treat without all of the work – leaving you time to enjoy your guests!
