My favorite thing about fall is the pumpkins.  I love every part – the trip to the pumpkin patch, baking delicious pumpkin recipes and doing pumpkin crafts with the kids.  Ever since having little ones though, I’ve been avoiding carving pumpkins.  There’s something about sharp knives and little fingers that I just can’t do.  So, instead I’ve been looking for other ways to express our creative pumpkin spirit through arts and crafts.

Since the start of toddlerhood, Little Bug has loved playing with play dough.  There’s something about that colorful squishy ball of clay that leads to hours of happiness.  So, in honor of fall, I designed this free printable pumpkin play dough mat for her to decorate.  Play dough mats are one of my new favorite additions to our studio.  They are so much fun for kids and very easy to make.  Simply print the mat on lightweight cardstock and take it to your local office supply store to laminate.  Laminating it will make the mat extra durable and let your kids explore over and over again.

We’ve had a lot of fun during studio crafternoons decorating our pumpkin play dough mats recently.  Little Bug loves designing different pumpkins.

This free printable pumpkin play dough mat has been a great addition to our daily art time.  It’s given a Fall twist to our usual art projects and made decorating pumpkins even more fun!

Busy Mom Tip:  Email your free printable pumpkin play dough mat to your local office supply store.  They will be able to print it on the correct cardstock there and laminate it.  All you will have to do is pick it up.  This will save two trips to the store or a lot of unnecessary waiting!
