Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that sometimes sneaks up on us when we aren’t even looking.  In reality, many of us are just finishing recovering from December.  I have an aunt that doesn’t even bother taking down her tree.  She removes the Christmas ornaments and decorates it with hearts instead.

With Valentine’s Day, it’s helpful to have an activity that’s flexible, festive and ready to go.  That’s where these Free Printable Valentine’s Day Coloring Pages come in.

Valentine’s Day coloring pages can be much more than just cute heart designs in repeat.  They are a calm, creative break that kids actually enjoy.  A lot.

They make a perfect Valentine’s Day party station, cozy at home family activity or even an activity for February classroom fun.

And my favorite part?  They require almost no prep.  Just download, print and grab your favorite coloring material.

Whether you’re looking for sweet messages, silly puns or simple designs for creative little hands, you’ll find plenty of ideas below to use these Free Printable Valentine’s Day Coloring Pages to make the holiday extra special.

How to Use your Valentine’s Day Coloring Pages

We love adding Valentine’s Day Coloring Pages to our Valentine’s Day celebration.  Here are a couple of our favorite ideas to use at your next Valentine’s Day party.

Set Up a Coloring Station

This is probably the easiest party activity to set up ever.  Simply download and print the coloring pages.  Set out crayons or markers.  You can even add Valentine stickers or Valentine stampers for even more fun. (affiliates)  Then, invite the kids to color.

I usually use a coloring station as the first party activity in the event timeline.  It’s an activity everyone can participate in and helps to make kids comfortable with the new environment.  Plus, I find kids (especially ones that might not automatically know each other), interact well through creative activities.

Make Into a Valentine

Choose your favorite coloring page and transform it into an easy Valentine.  Roll it up and secure it with Valentine washi tape.  Then attach a heart shaped crayon (you can make your own here), mini set of crayons or these trendy stacking crayons.  (affiliates)

Valentine’s Party Decoration

Need a cool party decorating idea?  Transform the kids finished coloring pages into a homemade banner.  After the coloring page is complete, attach with a clip to a ribbon length.  Together they will make a festive banner.

Color Pass

Coloring doesn’t just have to be a quiet independent activity.  It can also be a group party game.  One person starts and colors one part of the page.  Then, he passes the coloring page to the next player.  He colors another part of the coloring page and the game continues until the entire page is colored.

Depending how many players you have, each person can start with a different coloring page.  It’s fun to watch the coloring page transform as players add their own creative flair to the page.

Color and Snack

Add a Valentine’s Day Coloring Page to your next snack time.  Choose a Valentine themed snack, cup of hot cocoa and color away.

Valentine Post

Send a completed Valentine coloring page to a friend or family member.  After the coloring page is complete, write a short note on the back.  Then, place into an envelope and send to them.  Snail mail is always the best.

Sibling Swap

Looking for a sweet way to share the Valentine’s Day coloring fun?  Have your kids choose names out of hat and color a page for that sibling.  Or choose names of family and friends that you can give the coloring pages to.
