Father’s Day Craft – Big Shoes to Fill

I’m really excited to share this adorable Father’s Day craft with you from Kylie at Made by a Princess.  Following her passion for parties, Kylie designs a variety of invitations and other party printables perfect for a variety of events.  She also believes that every party needs a little bling and made a new collection of beautiful sparkle sticks that recently debuted as a Trend Alert on Hostess with the Mostess.  Wouldn’t they look amazing on cake pops, marshmallows or even appetizers!

Today, Kylie is sharing a very special Father’s Day craft inspired by her son.  I love her idea and am definitely going to have to try it with Little Bug soon!

My husband is the worst to shop for (well, next to my brother) because he always says the same thing,  “I don’t need anything.”  Well, I know you don’t *need* anything but throw me a little bone here!  This year I didn’t ask…I have learned my lesson.  I wanted to give him something from the kids that would be meaningful and that they could participate in as well.  My son is almost 11 years old so when I told him my idea he came up with the wording, “I’ve got some big shoes to fill!”.  Since I couldn’t exactly do this without my husband’s foot we had to let him in on it.

I told him he needed to wash his feet and sit down.  I think he thought he was going to get a foot massage. Whoops…sorry dear!

You Will Need:

Water-based paint

Paint brush

Free Printable Follow in My Footsteps – printed on heavy cardstock

1.  Print the free printable Follow in My Footsteps or use a plain piece of heavy cardstock.  Paint the bottom of the bigger foot with water based paint.  I used blue sparkly paint to add a glittery touch.

Press the painted foot onto the paper.

Let the paint completely dry.

2.  Next, paint the smaller foot.  I used green sparkly paint to help the two feet coordinate together.

Press this foot onto the paper right inside the first footprint.

3.  Let the two footprints dry completely.  My husband thought this was really cool and enjoyed it.  He even suggested we do it again with his dad when they come to visit. This was such a cool craft and special gift for dad that I think we are going to do it every year from now on.

Thanks so much for sharing Kylie.  Creating your own big shoes to fill Father’s Day craft is such a great way to celebrate Father’s Day with your kids.  Be sure to check out Kylie’s blog, Made by a Princess, to find more party inspiration and craft ideas.

Happy Celebrating,

Natalie
