After the Christmas holiday, my second favorite celebration of the year is Fourth of July. I love decorating everything in red, white and blue. And nothing beats celebrating with friends and family. It’s so much fun to get together for a barbecue, play time outside and watching fireworks.
I’ve been trying to decide on the perfect favor to send home with guests for this year’s Fourth of July get together. I have made s’mores favors in the past, so I wanted to create something a little different this year.
After recently designing a custom favor tag for a customer that said “Just Add Ice Cream” for an ice cream party favor, I thought that might be just the thing to rethink as a Fourth of July favor tag.
But what would you add ice cream to? Suddenly I started dreaming of sipping root beer floats by the pool as we wait for fireworks to begin. I decided to attach the tags to root beer bottles and make root beer float favors.
Not a fan of root beer? You can also attach your Free Printable Fourth of July Tag to sprinkles, a jar of homemade chocolate sauce or even maple syrup (except that one could also say “Just add pancakes”).
To make your Fourth of July root beer float favor, grab a bottle of your favorite root beer. I recommend IBC root beer since it comes with no labels and tastes really refreshing in the summer heat. You can also check out some of the other local brews. They tend to package their bottles without labels too.

Punch a hole at the top of the circle tag using a small round hole punch and tie on the root beer bottle with navy blue baker’s twine (affiliate). Attach a coordinating patriotic patterned paper straw (affiliate) onto the bottle using washi tape.
Give guests their root beer float favor on their way home to enjoy more patriotic fun after your celebration. Or you could set up a root beer float bar at your barbecue. Leave the bottles on the drinks table and ice cream chilled on ice. Then, guests can help themselves to a root beer float to celebrate!
