So excited to share our newest Halloween activity with you! I created… a new Halloween scavenger hunt. It’s sure to get your littles moving, giggling and searching all over the house for their next clue.
This Halloween Scavenger Hunt features 16 rhyming clues. It’s sure to turn any ordinary fall afternoon or kids Halloween party into a not-so-spooky treasure hunt. Each clue has a little rhyming riddle. The answer to the riddle sends them to their next clue. Eventually, they will discover a special surprise at the end.
And it’s easy to set-up since it uses common indoor locations. And once your download and print the clue cards, there is very little prep.

Choose between an indoor version to stay nice and warm. Or head outside with the outdoor Halloween puzzle hunt to explore the backyard.
How to Set Up this Halloween Scavenger Hunt
Setting up a clue card scavenger hunt is simple. First, download the Halloween scavenger hunt below.
Next, print your Halloween scavenger hunt clue cards on medium to heavy white cardstock. Then, trim your cards using a paper trimmer or scissors.
Once you have your clue cards, you’re ready to hide the clues. Keep the first clue to hand to players when you’re ready to begin.
Then, use the included cheat sheet to hide the clues at the specific location. Remember – you hide the clue in the location solved by the clue before it.
For example, if one clue leads players to the bookshelf, hide the next clue near or on the bookshelf. The clue cheat sheet tells you where to hide that clue so you know where you’re going.
Continue until all of the clues are hidden.
Place the final Halloween surprise at the location revealed by the next clue.
Tip – Set up the clues when the kids aren’t around. There’s nothing more guaranteed to ruin the fun than a child discovering Clue #12 when you are still trying to hide Clue #4.

Halloween Scavenger Hunt Clues
For this scavenger hunt, I chose all indoor locations. Since you might want to use it on a chilly fall day this October or even when it’s raining outside, I figured this gave you more options than relying on an outdoor hunt.
I also selected locations that are pretty common. If you happen to not have a location that a clue goes to or it isn’t safely accessible, you can eliminate that clue.
The clue locations are:
Clue #1 – Couch
Clue #2 – Bookshelf
Clue #3 – Refrigerator
Clue #4 – Bathroom Mirror
Clue #5 – Kitchen Sink
Clue #6 – Bed
Clue #7 – Coat Closet
Clue #8 – Shoes
Clue #9 – TV
Clue #10 – Bathtub
Clue #11 – Desk
Clue #12 – Laundry Hamper
Clue #13 – Kitchen Table
Clue #14 – Dresser
Clue #15 – Pantry
Clue #16 – Front Door
Tip: If you have younger players who aren’t reading yet, read the clues aloud and let everyone solve them together. Or designate an older player as the official reader of the clues.

Scavenger Hunt Prizes
You definitely don’t need an elaborate prize at the end of this scavenger hunt. The hunt itself is a lot of fun. I have included some simple Halloween themed prizes below. (affiliates)

Another idea, similar to our Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt, is to make your child’s Halloween treat bucket the prize. I am always looking for activities for Halloween day to keep excited kids busy. This Halloween Scavenger Hunt could be the perfect idea. Make them search for their Halloween treat buckets (or even give them a new one this year) before they go trick or treating.
Make It Part of your Halloween Party
If you’re hosting a kids Halloween party this year, this Halloween scavenger hunt can be the perfect activity. Especially if you’re looking for an activity where kids don’t have to sit still.
